What I take into consideration when cooking for a retreat

My approach to food is shaped by exploration, learning, and hands-on experience.

In my cooking approach I use several dietary perspectives, including Washoku, serotonin-supportive nutrition, and principles from both acidic and alkaline balance. Rather than following one strict system, I use different approaches to support your whole body.

In practice, this means that when I cook for a retreat, I focus on:

  • The gut–brain connection
    Preparing food that supports digestion, knowing that digestion directly affects mood, mental clarity, and stress response.
  • Serotonin-supportive food choices
    Using ingredients and combinations that help maintain emotional balance and calm focus throughout the day.
  • Stress and adrenal balance
    Creating meals that support steady energy and avoid sharp spikes, crashes, or overstimulation.
  • Acid–alkaline balance
    Designing meals that feel balanced, energizing, and varied, without restriction or heaviness.

Zoom Meeting

Before the retreat, we will have a Zoom meeting where we go through your retreat as a whole and address all food-related questions.

During the Zoom meeting, we discuss:

  • the number of participants
  • the retreat’s purpose and daily rhythm
  • participants’ special needs and dietary requirements
  • what my service includes

After the Zoom meeting, I begin planning the menu and all food-related details in alignment with your retreat and will get back to you.
